Bio
Kate Faulds is a Boorloo (Perth, Western Australia) based artist working across sculpture, jewellery, installation and digital art. Her practice explores material behaviour, transformation and narrative through jewellery techniques, producing small object-based worlds that question the role, function and expectations of materials. This exploration challenges perceptions and invites viewers to reconsider the inherent properties and potential of the materials.
Kate Faulds holds a Master of Information Management, Curtin University (2019); Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours), Curtin University (2003) and Diploma of Fine Art, TAFE(2000). Faulds has worked as a Collection Development Librarian and various roles in public libraries for over a decade. Her dual background in art and librarianship/archives has become integral to her practice, informing her methodical use of categorisation, grouping and classification as creative strategies.
Faulds has been the recipient of several grants; presented solo and group exhibitions in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, China, India and Bangladesh and has undertaken residencies in New Delhi, India; Busan, South Korea; and Greenhills, WA.
